Kim Coutts has more than twenty-five years of experience leading marketing and communications programs that increase awareness and drive positive change for companies in the financial services, travel and tourism and consumer products markets. Kim is an experienced storyteller with a unique talent for uncovering, creating and sharing content that intrigues, educates and inspires action. She is also an experienced issues manager and C-level business advisor with a successful track record of launching new products for global companies, building brands, engaging audiences across traditional and social media platforms, cultivating thought leaders, and maintain the value of corporate reputations during times of crisis.
Kim currently provides strategy and program execution for a small group of clients in the technology, financial services and travel sectors. Her recent consulting work includes creating interest in a new financial services tool for CUNA Mutual Group, supporting sustainable tourism and farming in the Riviera Maya, rebranding an engineering services firm and serving as the internal marketing lead and spokesperson for a series of consumer fairs and events.
Prior to joining Noble Strategic Partners, Kim was a senior vice president and partner at FleishmanHillard (FH) where she spent over a decade at the global strategic communications firm’s San Diego office. She began her career building strategies and launching first-generation web sites for companies including Hallmark, Walmart and H&R Block. She also held leadership roles in the firm’s technology and consumer marketing teams where she led Visa Inc. technology and consumer product positioning teams for eight years. During her tenure leading the Visa team the company created a reputation as an innovative technology-led company, transitioned from a Member-owned network to a publicly-held company and successfully launched debit and prepaid cards into the U.S. market. Following her years working for Visa, Kim led the consumer and retail product teams for Citibank where she planned the media community outreach programs around new branch openings throughout Southern California.
While at FH, Kim also led numerous consumer marketing teams working on integrated marketing programs for clients including Petco, Expedia, Hyatt, Natural Balance Pet Foods, BumbleBee Foods, Hacienda Tres Rios (eco-tourism), Canadian Tourism Authority, Glacier Water (sustainability) and Holiday Retirement (senior communities). Kim is also an experienced crisis counselor with experience across cruise ship disasters, food recalls, Department of Justice investigations, international travel safety, union labor issues, supply chain sourcing and pet health and wellness.
Before joining FleishmanHillard, Kim was director of public relations for M/C/C, a Dallas-based public relations and marketing agency. At M/C/C, she managed a team of 22 employees in the development of marketing campaigns and media relations strategies for telecommunications, Internet and software companies including BellSouth.net, PrimeCo, IBM, Ericsson, PageMart (now Weblink Wireless) and SnapTrack (purchased by Qualcomm).
Ms. Coutts graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism.
Born and raised in Orange County, California Kim is currently based in Portland.
